Trade Lord title card: the words TRADE LORD in gold retro type, Compete for a place on the Rich List, Buy. Trade. Risk everything.

Trade Lord is a retro browser trading game in the style of Drug Lord. You start with £1,500 and fifteen days to buy goods cheap in one of eight world cities and sell them dear in another. Everyone plays the same market each day, and every finished run goes onto the daily Rich List.

About Trade Lord

Trade Lord is a family-friendly take on the old Drug Lord games, made by a developer who played Drug Lord 2 years ago. The cities are London, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Monaco, Shanghai, Sydney and Hong Kong. Prices move every day of the game, rumours hint at where the next spike or crash is coming, and customs officers may stop you on the way, when you choose to run, bribe or surrender.

The daily part comes from a seed. Each calendar day (UTC) the server hands out one seed, so all players face the same prices and events, and the server replays each submitted run move by move before it reaches the leaderboard. You can play the day's market again to improve your score. A full game takes about ten minutes.

The leaderboard shows today's ranks, all-time records and your own history, including the gap to the player above you, yesterday's winning run and a daily streak. There is no download and no sign-up.

It suits players who like short strategy runs with a shared seed, and anyone who remembers the text trading games of old phones and calculators.

How to play Trade Lord

  1. Open Trade Lord; a quick walkthrough is under Help, Walk me through my first trade.
  2. Check prices in your city and buy goods that look cheap.
  3. Travel to another of the eight cities; each trip uses a day of your fifteen.
  4. Sell where prices are high, and watch the rumours for coming spikes and crashes.
  5. If customs stops you, choose to run, bribe or surrender, then finish the fifteen days to post your score.

Tips

  • Act on rumours early: a spike tip is worth a trip even with a half-full hold.
  • Keep some cash back for bribes rather than spending every pound on stock.
  • Replay the day's market: it is the same seed, so you can plan a better route.
