Rogule is a minimalist roguelike in the browser by Chris McCormick. Everyone gets the same dungeon each day, and you have one chance to beat it.

About Rogule

Rogule's motto is a dungeon a day keeps the Balrog away. It is a minimalist online roguelike by Chris McCormick, played in the browser and drawn with emoji: you are a small adventurer moving through a grid of rooms and corridors, meeting monsters, trees, rocks and items as you go, in the tradition of Rogue.

The daily twist is that everyone gets the same dungeon each day, and you get one chance to beat it, so every run is shared with every other player that day and a single mistake can end it.

The game is free to play and open source, with its code public on GitHub and a developer log that documents updates such as new monsters, foraging and holes in the floor.

It suits roguelike fans who want a short, fair daily run rather than a long campaign.

How to play Rogule

  1. Open today's dungeon.
  2. Explore, fight and collect items.
  3. Survive and find the way through.
  4. You have one chance per day.

Tips

  • Play carefully: there is only one attempt a day.
  • Pick up items before fighting stronger monsters.
  • Compare runs with friends, since the dungeon is shared.
