Tenish
Rate itOne number question a day, five guesses, and close counts.
Every day: One numbered trivia question a day whose answer is a number, the same for everyone on that date, with five guesses and a daily ranking against other players. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone.

Tenish asks one trivia question a day whose answer is always a number. You get five guesses with higher-or-lower and hot-or-cold hints, and you can lock in whenever you feel close; each extra guess lowers the points on offer.
About Tenish
Tenish is a short daily estimation game. Each numbered puzzle is a single question with a category, say technology or the human body, and an answer that is always a number: how many bytes are in a kibibyte, how far, how many, which year. Everyone gets the same question on the same date.
After each guess the game tells you whether the answer is higher or lower and how close you are, on a scale from Freezing through Cold, Warm, Hot and Burning to Exact. You can guess again to get closer or lock in your answer. The catch is that every extra guess lowers the points available, from 1,000 for the first down to 400 for the fifth, and the closer your locked-in guess, the more of that you keep. Closeness is judged for the size of the answer, so one out on a small number counts as very close, and years are judged in years.
When you finish you see the answer and its source, your score, and how you rank against the day's other players as a percentage. A spoiler-free share card shows one emoji per guess. It is free, needs no account, and takes a minute or two.
It suits players who like a single quick question and the push-your-luck choice of locking in early.

Tips
- Lock in early when your reading is Hot or Burning: a later guess has fewer points to win.
- Make your first guess a sensible middle value so the higher or lower hint cuts the range in half.
- For year questions, think in decades first; closeness is judged in years.
