Puppy Hideout - Queens Puzzle
Rate itFind the hidden puppies: one in every row, column and colour region, and no two touching.
Every day: One new 8x8 Queens board a day, the same for everyone in the world, dated by UTC. Each dated board keeps its own page in an archive that starts on October 8, 2026. New puzzle: Midnight UTC, once the site's daily rebuild finishes (so the new board may appear a little after midnight).

Puppy Hideout is Puzzledoku's take on the Queens logic puzzle, with puppies in place of queens. Each day there is one new board for everyone, dated by UTC: find the eight hidden pups using logic alone, keep your streak and share your time.
About Puppy Hideout - Queens Puzzle
Puppy Hideout is a free Queens puzzle on Puzzledoku, played in the browser with no download or account. The board is split into colour regions, and a puppy hides in each one. Every row and every column holds exactly one puppy, and no two puppies sit next to each other, not even diagonally.
The daily puzzle is one board a day, the same for every player in the world. Dates follow UTC rather than your device's clock, and the new board appears after the site's daily rebuild rather than at the exact stroke of midnight. Each day's board also gets its own dated page with a folded solution, so past days stay playable from the archive, which begins on October 8, 2026.
You tap a cell to mark it with an X and double-tap to place a puppy. A correct puppy pops out and crosses out its row, column and colour for you; a wrong one costs one of your three bones. Three helper items sit beside the board: Hint explains the next logical step in plain words, Sniff crosses out some empty cells and Fetch reveals one puppy. Every puzzle is checked by a solver to have exactly one solution, so it never needs a guess.
Solving on back-to-back UTC dates builds a streak, and Share sends your time with a link to the same board without giving the answer away. Only your first solve of a date counts toward your record, and records stay in the browser you play in. Beyond the daily board there are 200 levels that grow from 8x8 to 10x10, plus daily arrow and rotate rings puzzles on the same site. It suits players of LinkedIn's Queens who want another board each day with a gentler look and hints that teach.
How to play Puppy Hideout - Queens Puzzle
- Open the daily Queens puzzle on Puzzledoku; the board for today's UTC date loads.
- Look for the smallest colour regions first, since they leave the fewest places for their puppy.
- Tap a cell to mark it with an X when no puppy can be there, or drag across cells to mark several at once.
- Double-tap a cell to place a puppy; if it is right, its row, column and colour are crossed out for you.
- Avoid wrong placements: each one costs a bone, and you start with three.
- Place all eight puppies, one per row, column and colour, with none touching, then tap Share to post your time.

Tips
- A region that lies entirely inside one row or column claims that line, so every other cell in it can be crossed out.
- Cells touching every possible spot of a small region can be ruled out, since the region's puppy will sit next to them.
- When stuck, imagine a puppy in a cell and follow the rules; if a row, column or colour is left with no room, that cell is empty.
- Use Hint rather than Fetch when you want to learn the deduction instead of just being given a puppy.
Questions
What time does the Puppy Hideout daily puzzle change?
It follows the UTC date. The new board appears once Puzzledoku's daily rebuild finishes shortly after midnight UTC, so it may not change at the exact second midnight passes.
Can I play past daily boards?
Yes. Each date has its own permanent page with the original board and a folded solution, and the archive starts on October 8, 2026. Solving an old date does not add to your current streak.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It is free in the browser, with nothing to download and no account. Your progress and streak are saved on your device and do not move to another one.
Is Puppy Hideout the same as Queens?
It uses the same rules as the Queens or Star Battle puzzle with one piece per row, column and region, with puppies in place of queens.
