Historic Firsts
Put six landmark inventions, discoveries and milestones in order, earliest first.
Every day: One numbered edition a day, the same for every player: six landmark firsts, from inventions to discoveries and milestones, to put in order from earliest to latest, with three submissions. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone, from the game's code (editions follow your device's date).

Historic Firsts deals you six historic firsts each day, things like inventions, scientific breakthroughs and cultural milestones, and you arrange them on a timeline from oldest to newest. You can flip a card to learn more, and three wrong submissions close the day's edition.
About Historic Firsts
Historic Firsts is a daily timeline game styled as a newspaper, with each day's puzzle printed as a numbered edition. The deck holds six cards, and each card is a first: the first of an invention, a discovery or a milestone in culture. Your job is to drag them into six slots from the earliest, number one, to the most recent, number six.
You can flip any card to read more about it before you commit. When you are happy, press Submit to lock in your order. A wrong order costs a submission, and after three wrong submissions the edition closes until tomorrow, so it rewards thinking before guessing.
A new edition comes out every day and counts towards a streak. Playing needs no account; a free reader subscription with just an email keeps your stats and streak for good and lets you play friends, while a paid Press Pass adds every past edition, themed bonus editions and play across devices.
It suits players who like knowing when things first happened rather than battles and dates of rulers.
How to play Historic Firsts
- Open Historic Firsts and look at the six cards in today's deck.
- Flip any card to read more about the first it describes.
- Drag the cards into the timeline slots, from the earliest at number one to the newest at number six.
- Press Submit to check your order.
- Adjust and resubmit if needed; three wrong submissions end the edition for the day.
Tips
- Place the cards you are surest of at the ends first, then fit the rest between them.
- Read the back of a card before guessing; a detail often fixes its century.
- With three submissions, change as few cards as possible between tries so you learn which were wrong.
