Footballdle is a free daily football game built on Wordle. Each day you have six tries to find a hidden six-letter surname from a current Premier League squad, with coloured tiles after every guess. Two more modes, Scout Report and Spot the Baller, ask you to name Premier League players from clues.
About Footballdle
Footballdle is a browser game for Premier League fans with three modes on one page, each keeping its own streak. Its line is six letters, six tries, one kick-off a day, and the main mode, called Daily, is what that describes: a Wordle where the hidden word is the surname of a player in the 2025/26 Premier League.
In Daily, every answer has exactly six letters, and every guess must itself be a real Premier League surname of six letters. After each guess the tiles turn green for a letter in the right place, yellow for a letter in the surname but elsewhere, and grey for a letter that is not there, and the on-screen keyboard keeps track. Letters can appear twice. Puzzles are numbered like match days, and a new one starts at midnight UK time. Finishing the daily puzzle opens a Challenge mode with five-letter surnames against a 45-second clock that you can replay as often as you like.
Scout Report is a player guessing game: type any Premier League player, and the clues tell you how close his club, nationality and position are to the hidden player's, with six guesses to find him. Spot the Baller is ten quick rounds, each showing a club, a country and a position, where you pick the matching player from four names with about eight seconds per round; six right out of ten keeps the streak.
The squad list is refreshed at the start of each season and in the January transfer window. Streaks and statistics stay in your browser, with no account, so they reset if you change device or clear your history. It suits fans who know the current squads well, including the less famous defenders and keepers.
How to play Footballdle
- Open Footballdle and choose Daily.
- Type a six-letter Premier League surname and press Enter.
- Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the name but elsewhere, grey is not in it.
- Use what you learned in your next guess and find the surname within six tries.
- Then try Scout Report and Spot the Baller from the Modes panel, each with its own daily streak.

Tips
- Open with a surname that uses common letters such as R, S, T, N, L and E.
- Many Premier League surnames end in -ER, -ON, -ES or -SON, so try those endings when stuck.
- Do not think only of English names: players from South America and Africa are well represented.
- Only six-letter surnames of current Premier League players are accepted, so a name like PALMER works but a dictionary word does not.
- Play in the same browser each day, because the streak is saved locally.
