Football Wordle
Wordle where the answer is a footballer's name.
Every day: One hidden footballer's surname a day, the same for everyone, spelled out in Wordle tiles, with six guesses. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone.

Football Wordle hides a footballer's surname in a Wordle grid. You type player names to fill the row, the tiles show which letters are in the right place, in the wrong place or missing, and you have six guesses. A new player comes each day and you can share your score.
About Football Wordle
Football Wordle is Wordle with footballers. Each day the game hides one player's surname, and the grid shows how many letters it has. You type the surname of a footballer of the same length and press enter; the tiles turn to show letters that are in the right spot, letters that are in the name but somewhere else, and letters that are not in it at all. You have six guesses to find the name.
The difference from ordinary Wordle is the word list. A guess has to be a real player's surname from the game's list, so you cannot test letters with any word you like, and the answer can be any length rather than five letters. The list holds a wide spread of players, from household names to squad players at smaller clubs, so the day's answer is not always someone famous, and the letter clues do more of the work than your football knowledge alone.
When you finish, a stats panel shows your guess distribution and a countdown to the next footballer, which arrives at midnight on your own clock, and you can share your score without the answer. It suits football fans who already play Wordle and want one quick daily puzzle that uses both.
How to play Football Wordle
- Look at the grid to see how many letters the day's surname has.
- Type the surname of any footballer with that many letters and press enter.
- Read the tiles: one colour for a letter in the right spot, another for a letter in the name but in the wrong spot, and grey for a letter that is not in the name.
- Use what you learned to choose your next player; you have six guesses.
- Share your score and come back after midnight for a new footballer.
Tips
- Open with a surname that has several different vowels and common consonants to test as many letters as you can.
- Because guesses must be real players, keep a few surnames of each length in mind before you start.
- If a guess is refused as player not found, try a different spelling of the surname.
