About 162-0: The Perfect Season

162-0 is a quick drafting game built on real baseball statistics from 1871 to 2021. Each round deals a franchise and a decade, such as the Boston Red Sox in the 1910s, and shows that club's eligible hitters for the decade with their peak single seasons: home runs, runs batted in, runs, hits and stolen bases. You pick one for your lineup card, five rounds in all.

Stats are adjusted for era, so 40 home runs in the dead-ball years count for far more than 40 in a high-scoring decade. When the lineup is set, a season simulator on the game's server plays out 162 games, and the target is the record no real team has reached: 162 wins and no losses. The 2001 Mariners and the 1906 Cubs, the game notes, won 116.

The Daily is the shared mode: the same five deals for everyone that day, no skips and one attempt, with a new deal at midnight UTC and a streak for consecutive days. Free Play adds two skips and a trade deadline for unlimited seasons, and Scout's Honor hides every stat until the season ends. The game runs in the browser on itch.io and takes two to five minutes.

How to play 162-0: The Perfect Season

1. Open 162-0 and choose Play the Daily.
2. Read the day's first deal: a franchise and a decade, with its eligible hitters.
3. Sort the table by a stat if you like, and pick one hitter for your lineup card.
4. Repeat for all five rounds; there are no skips in the Daily.
5. Watch the simulator play out the season and compare your record with others.
