Basketball 5 is a small website of NBA games, all free in the browser and all built around a quick daily session. It takes its name from its first game, in which you build a starting five, and has since added a grid, a Wordle, a top ten list and a bingo card.

In Basketball 5 itself, a random NBA team appears and you pick one of its players for an open position, say LeBron James at small forward when the Lakers come up. Then another team appears, until all five spots are filled. Each player has a rating, and your score is the strength of the whole lineup. Easy mode only deals the top teams, Normal deals all of them, and a timer is optional. Basketball 5 Classic plays the same way with historic teams such as the 2004 Lakers.

The NBA Grid is the one that is plainly the same for everyone each day: a three by three board with teams down the side and across the top, where every square needs a player who has played for both. The board is chosen from the calendar date on your device, so it turns over at your midnight. The game notes that its player data was last updated in March 2025. NBA Wordle asks you to spell a hidden player's name in six tries with green and yellow letters, and Top 10 asks you to fill a themed list of ten players, such as the most points in a season, with or without a two-minute timer. NBA Bingo deals twelve players one at a time to place on a board of twelve categories.

Next to HoopGrids or Immaculate Grid, Basketball 5 is less a single puzzle than a bundle of short NBA games on one page, and the lineup draft is something those sites do not have. It suits fans who follow rosters and career moves and want a few minutes of basketball trivia a day.

How to play Basketball 5

1. Open basketball-5.com and pick a game: Basketball 5, Classic, Grid, Wordle, Top 10 or Bingo.
2. In the Grid, tap a square and name a player who has played for both the row's team and the column's team; fill all nine.
3. In Basketball 5, a random team appears: choose one of its players for an open position, then repeat until your five is complete and see your score.
4. In Wordle, type a player's name; green letters are in the right spot, yellow ones are in the name but elsewhere. You have six tries.
5. In Top 10, type players who belong on the day's list until all ten are found, with or without the two-minute timer.

Tips

• In the Grid, journeymen who played for many teams fill awkward squares; save the obvious stars for the squares only they fit.
• In Basketball 5, do not spend your one pick from a strong team on a weak position; think about which spots later teams can fill.
• Start Wordle with a common surname length and letters, then use the yellow letters to narrow down the team and era.
• Try Top 10 without the timer first to learn the list style, then switch to the timed mode.
