Actorle Fill The Grid

Name actors who appeared in both films that meet at each square.

Every day: One numbered movie grid a day, the same for every player: for each of the nine squares, name an actor who appeared in both the film on its row and the film on its column, with 16 guesses in all. New puzzle: Midnight, local time (the grid follows the date on your device).

Fill The Grid #1129 on an iPad: films down the side and across the top, with actors' photos in the solved squares and ten guesses left

Fill The Grid is Actorle's daily movie grid. Films line the rows and columns, and for each of the nine squares you name an actor who was in both, with sixteen guesses to fill the board. It suits film fans who know casts well beyond the lead roles.

About Actorle Fill The Grid

Fill The Grid is one of the daily games on Actorle, the actor-guessing site made by László Kiss. It takes the three by three grid that Immaculate Grid made popular for baseball and fills it with films: three titles down the side, three across the top, and nine empty squares where they meet.

For each square you type the name of an actor who appeared in both the row's film and the column's film. Some squares have several right answers, so a well-known lead and a supporting player can both count. A header may also be a category rather than a film, such as Oscar winner. You get sixteen guesses for the whole board and can fill the squares in any order; a wrong name costs a guess, and the grid ends when it is full or the guesses run out.

Every grid is numbered and tied to a date, and the site changes to the next one at midnight on your own device's clock. Missed days are kept in a free archive, and the Actorle iPhone and iPad app carries the same daily grid with your streak synced if you sign in. Actorle Plus, the optional membership, removes ads and adds extras such as streak repair, but the daily grid itself is free.

Compared with Movie Grid, where you name films that fit two clues, Fill The Grid turns the question around and asks for the people in front of the camera. It suits players who remember who was in what, including the second and third names on the poster.

How to play Actorle Fill The Grid

  1. Open today's grid: three films down the left, three films (or a category) across the top.
  2. Tap an empty square and type an actor who appeared in both the film on that row and the film on that column.
  3. A correct name fills the square with the actor's photo; a wrong one uses up a guess.
  4. Fill the nine squares in any order. You have sixteen guesses for the whole grid.
  5. When the grid is full or the guesses run out, see the answers and share your result.

Tips

  • Start with the squares where the two films share a famous lead; save your guesses for the harder pairings.
  • Think about supporting casts and cameos: many squares are solved by a character actor rather than a star.
  • With sixteen guesses for nine squares you can afford seven misses, so try a likely name rather than leaving a square empty.
  • If you miss a day, play it from the archive rather than skipping it.
