AnimeGrids is a daily anime trivia grid in the style of Immaculate Grid. Each square sits under a row clue and a column clue, such as a genre, a decade or a popularity band from MyAnimeList, and you fill it with an anime that matches both. Your rarity score shows how unusual your picks were compared with other players.

About AnimeGrids

AnimeGrids gives you one 3x3 grid a day. Along the top and the side are six clues taken from MyAnimeList data: genres such as Harem or Slice of Life, formats such as TV Anime or Movie, decades, whether a show is an anime original, or how popular it is on MAL. Each of the nine squares wants an anime that fits its row and its column at once, and you cannot use the same anime twice.

You pick a square, search for a title and submit it; right answers lock in. When the grid is done, the game works out your rarity: for every square, the share of players who chose the same anime as you, added up across the nine squares. A lower total means rarer picks. There is also a streak, and an archive of earlier grids.

The clues follow MyAnimeList's own listings, so a show only counts for a genre or for Movie if MAL lists it that way; the FAQ notes that some film-length releases are listed as OVA or ONA. It suits anime fans who know their seasons and studios and like the sports-grid format.

How to play AnimeGrids

  1. Open AnimeGrids and read the three column clues and three row clues.
  2. Choose an empty square.
  3. Search for an anime that fits both that square's row and column clue, and submit it.
  4. Repeat for all nine squares, using each anime only once.
  5. When the grid is complete, check your rarity score and share it.

Tips

  • Go for less-watched titles when you are sure of them: lower rarity percentages make a better score.
  • Check clues against MyAnimeList's genre and format tags rather than your own sense of a show.
  • Fill the hardest intersection first, while you still have every anime available.
