A Cramdle board mid-shift: a lizard, a fortepiano, marble heads and a pointing hand packed in a box 6.36 by 5.77 metres, with the 90-second timer running

Cramdle is a free daily packing game in the browser. Each day you get the same set of odd cut-out objects as everyone else, from marble heads to a fortepiano, and 90 seconds to drag them into the tightest box you can. Your best area is scored against the other players, and an endless mode lets you keep squeezing after the clock runs out.

About Cramdle

Cramdle is a spatial packing game with one puzzle a day. The day's puzzle is a handful of irregular objects cut from public domain pictures: classical heads, fruit, tools, shells, a lizard, a pointing hand, musical instruments. A box is drawn around them, and its width, height and area in square metres update as you move things. Your aim is to make that area as small as you can.

The game is dressed as an old desktop computer, with grey windows and a pixel font, and frames the task as a shift at a strange laboratory: a welcome note asks a new hire to pack the artifacts in the smallest box possible, and Begin Shift starts a 90-second clock. The game records the best fit you reach before the time runs out, and you can reset to your best arrangement or finish early.

When the shift ends you see how your fit compares with the other players that day, as a percentile, and can copy a short numbered result to share. Endless mode lets you keep optimizing the same set of objects without the clock, and its result is ranked as well. An archive lists past days so you can play the ones you missed, and every puzzle starts without an account.

Cramdle's first puzzle is dated 11 October 2026. It suits players who like tangram or polyomino packing but want something looser and quicker: the shapes are not grid pieces, they rotate freely, and there is no single right answer, only a smaller box. It has no ads.

How to play Cramdle

  1. Open cramdle.com and press Begin Shift to start today's puzzle and its 90-second timer.
  2. Drag each object to move it; scroll or pinch to zoom the view.
  3. Push the objects together so the box around them gets as small as possible, watching its width, height and area.
  4. Use Reset to Best to go back to your smallest arrangement so far, or Finish Early when you are happy with it.
  5. When the shift ends, read your standing against other players, share your result, or keep optimizing in endless mode.

Tips

  • Start with the largest object in a corner and fit the small ones into its gaps, since the box is set by the outermost edges.
  • Watch width and height separately: a long object laid along the longer side of the box often saves more than tidying the small ones.
  • Your best fit is kept, so try a bold rearrangement late in the 90 seconds and reset to best if it makes the box bigger.
