A Flipart board of coloured block shapes inside a frame

Flipart is a free daily shape puzzle on Puzzmo, a take on the digital jigsaw. Each day's frame holds a set of Tetris-like pieces stacked on top of each other; you tap pivot points to flip them over until none overlap and every piece sits inside the border.

About Flipart

Flipart is one of the games Puzzmo opened with in October 2023. Puzzmo's credits list Jack Schlesinger and Zach Gage for its design, with Schlesinger making the puzzles. Puzzmo describes it as its answer to the digital jigsaw: instead of dragging pieces around, every piece is already roughly where it belongs and only needs to be flipped the right way.

A board starts as a pile of coloured, blocky shapes, many of them overlapping or hanging over the edge of the frame. Each shape has dots marking the points it can flip around. Tap a pivot and the piece folds over that line like a page turning. The puzzle is solved when every square of every piece lies inside the frame and no two pieces share a square.

Because flips are reversible and there is no timer pressure beyond your own clock, it plays like a calm logic puzzle. The trick is working out which pieces can only go one way and using them to pin down the rest. The free daily board is one standard Flipart; Puzzmo Plus members also get a bonus board and a larger version on some days.

It suits people who like jigsaws, tangrams or Tetris and want something quick that does not involve words or numbers.

How to play Flipart

  2. Look at the frame and the overlapping shapes inside and around it.
  3. Tap a pivot point on a shape to flip that piece over the pivot.
  4. Keep flipping pieces until none of them overlap and all of them sit inside the border.
  5. Finish the board to record your time and points.

Tips

  • Start with pieces near the edge of the frame; they usually have only one flip that keeps them inside.
  • Count the empty squares in a corner and look for the piece with exactly that shape.
  • If two pieces fight over the same space, flip one of them back and try the other first.
  • Flips undo themselves, so testing an idea costs only a couple of taps.
