Bisecto

Cut each shape exactly in half with a single line.

Every day: A numbered Daily Challenge of ten shapes, identical for everyone, with one attempt: cut each into two exactly equal halves with one line, scored on accuracy. New puzzle: Midnight UTC (the next-challenge countdown in the game's code runs to UTC midnight).

Bisecto, the 50/50 shape slicing game

Bisecto shows a geometric shape and asks you to slice it into two halves of equal area with one straight line. The Daily Challenge gives everyone the same ten shapes and one attempt, scored by how close each cut comes to a perfect 50/50. There are also arcade, practice and friend challenge modes.

About Bisecto

Bisecto is a precision game about area. Each shape, a polygon or something rounder, needs one straight cut that splits it into two equal halves. When you make the cut the game shows the split, such as 49.6 to 50.4, and turns it into an accuracy percentage, with a time limit on each shape.

The daily is the centre of it. Every day there is a numbered Daily Challenge of ten identical shapes for everyone, and you get one attempt. Your average accuracy goes onto the daily leaderboard, a streak counts the days you play, and the share card shows a row of squares for your cuts. The next challenge arrives at midnight UTC.

You can choose how to cut: draw the line by dragging, slide a line across, or rotate one around the centre. Outside the daily there is an arcade run where every cut must reach 95 percent and three misses end it, a practice mode with six difficulty levels, and friend challenges where everyone gets the same shapes and the best score wins.

It suits players who like quick spatial puzzles, and anyone who suspects they can eyeball the middle of a shape better than they can.

How to play Bisecto

  1. Open Bisecto and start today's Daily Challenge.
  2. Look at the shape and judge where a line would split its area evenly.
  3. Draw, slide or rotate the line, depending on your control setting, before the timer runs out.
  4. See the split and your accuracy, then move to the next shape.
  5. After ten shapes, see your average accuracy, rank and streak, and share the result.

Tips

  • Think about area, not width: a thin long part counts for less than it looks.
  • For symmetrical shapes, any line through the centre of symmetry halves the area.
  • Try the rotate control if you find it easier to pick an angle through the middle.
  • Warm up in practice mode at the same difficulty before the daily, which you only get once.
