Centroid
Click the centre of mass of the day's shapes, one guess per round.
Every day: Three rounds a day of shape clusters, generated from the date and the same for everyone: click where you think the centre of mass is, with one guess per round, scored out of 30. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone (the shapes are generated from your local date).

Centroid shows a cluster of shapes and asks you to click its centre of mass. There are three rounds a day, easy, medium and hard, with one guess each, and every round is scored out of ten on accuracy. Your total out of 30 can be compared with players worldwide.
About Centroid
Centroid is a test of physical intuition. Each round draws a small group of overlapping or separate shapes, and you have to find the point where the whole arrangement would balance. You click once, and the game shows the true centre of mass and scores your guess out of ten by how close it was.
A day has three rounds of rising difficulty: easy with three or four shapes, medium with five or six, and hard with seven or eight. The shapes come from the date, so every player sees the same puzzle that day. After each round you can see a heatmap of where other players clicked, and at the end your total out of 30 is placed on a histogram of everyone's scores.
There is no second chance within a round, which is what makes it a daily rather than a practice tool. Results can be shared, and the site links to a community on Facebook and Discord.
It suits players who like quick estimation games, and anyone who has ever tried to balance something awkward on one finger.
How to play Centroid
- Open Centroid to see the first round's shapes.
- Judge where the combined centre of mass lies.
- Click that point and confirm your guess; you get one per round.
- See the true centre, your score out of ten and where others clicked.
- Play the medium and hard rounds, then compare your total out of 30 and share.
Tips
- Weight by area: a big shape pulls the centre towards it far more than a small one.
- Find the centre of each shape first, then average them by size in your head.
- Separate shapes far apart move the centre into empty space between them.
- Check the heatmap after each round to see how others misjudged it.
