About Spongedle

Spongedle is a daily guessing game for fans of the early years of SpongeBob SquarePants. Its makers describe it as built around the show's golden age, and the episodes come only from seasons 1 to 3, with no plans to add later seasons or the films.

Each day there is one episode to name. You start with a single screenshot and type the episode title into a search box. Every wrong guess or skip unlocks another screenshot, up to six, and numbered buttons under the image let you flip back through the ones you have opened. If you are stuck, hovering over the hint icon reveals a clue. A correct answer unlocks all six screenshots so you can look through them.

The puzzle changes at midnight UTC, and everyone gets the same episode. There is no archive: the FAQ says the focus is one fresh challenge a day. Streaks are tracked, and the settings include a dark mode and a colour-blind mode.

Spongedle is an independent fan project and says it is not connected to Nickelodeon or Paramount. It is free, supported by ads and a Ko-fi page, and the makers say more game modes are in development.

How to play Spongedle

1. Open Spongedle and look at the first screenshot from today's episode.
2. Type an episode title in the search box and pick it, or press Skip.
3. Each wrong guess or skip unlocks another screenshot; use the numbered buttons to review them.
4. Hover over the hint icon if you need a clue.
5. Name the episode within six screenshots to keep your streak.

Tips

• Look at the setting first: the Krusty Krab, Sandy's treedome or Goo Lagoon narrows the list quickly.
• Side characters and props often point to a single episode, so check the background as well as SpongeBob.
• Remember that only seasons 1 to 3 are used, which rules out later episodes and the films.
• Save the hint for when you have it down to a few episodes.
