About Whodle

Whodle is a fan-made daily game for Doctor Who, made by dixonary. The idea is simple: you are shown a frame from an episode of the series, and you have to say which episode it is.

You type into a search box and choose an episode from the list. Each wrong guess unlocks the next image, so the clues build up as you go, and you have six guesses in all. Some days change the format: the game also supports audio rounds, where you listen to clips from the episode and can switch on a written audio description, and special rounds built around a picture puzzle.

Every puzzle lives at a dated address, such as /game/2026-10-01, and the share text names the weekday, so you can send a friend a particular day or go back and play one you missed.

The game is aimed at viewers who know the long run of the programme well enough to place a corridor, a monster or a costume. It is free and runs in the browser.

How to play Whodle

1. Open whodle.dixonary.co.uk and look at today's first still.
2. Type part of an episode title in the search box and pick it from the list.
3. If you are wrong, the next still is revealed.
4. Keep guessing until you name the episode or use all six guesses.
5. Copy the share text to send your result, or open an earlier date to play a past day.

Tips

• Identify the Doctor and companion first; that alone narrows the search to one era.
• Look at picture quality and colour, which separate the classic and modern series at a glance.
• Sets and monsters often appear in only one or two stories, so check the background.
• On audio days, turn on the audio description if you cannot make out the clip.
