Ripple
Follow a historical event through three steps of what happened next.
Every day: One chain of historical cause and effect a day, the same for everyone: a starting event and three steps where you pick what happened next. New puzzle: Midnight Hawaii time (Pacific/Honolulu).

Ripple is a daily history quiz about consequences. Each day it starts from a real event and asks you three times to choose, from four options, what that event led to, explaining each link as the chain unfolds.
About Ripple
Ripple treats history as a row of dominoes. A day's puzzle opens with one real event, and your job is to predict the next one in the chain. You pick from four options, the game reveals the answer with a short explanation of how one thing caused the other, and that answer becomes the starting point for the next question. Three predictions make a full chain.
The chains lean towards surprising links rather than famous dates: how a printing mistake on a map ended up naming two continents. Because every answer comes with its reason, a wrong pick still teaches you something, and the game marks it as a wrong prediction with the explanation rather than just a red cross.
Once per game you can use a hint that removes two wrong options, at the cost of half the points for that question. Results can be shared, a streak counts consecutive days, and past chains can be replayed from an archive without touching your streak. Signing in is optional and adds you to a leaderboard that weighs average points, games played and streak. It suits players who like history for its stories of cause and effect more than for memorised years.
How to play Ripple
- Read the day's starting event.
- Choose what happened next from the four options.
- Read the explanation; the correct answer becomes the next event in the chain.
- Make three predictions in total, using the 50-50 hint once if you need it.
- Share your chain score and come back after midnight Hawaii time for a new chain.
Tips
- Think about who was affected by the starting event and what they would have done next; the right answer usually follows from that.
- Save the hint for the step you know least about, since it halves the points for that question only.
- Read every explanation, even when you are right; later steps often build on details in them.
Questions
When does Ripple reset?
At midnight Hawaii time, as the game itself states.
Is Ripple free?
Yes. It plays in the browser for free; an account is optional and only needed for the leaderboard.
What does the hint do?
Once per game it removes two wrong options. A correct answer after using it earns 50 points instead of 100.
Can I play earlier puzzles?
Yes. Past chains are in an archive, and archive plays do not affect your daily streak.
