Daily Timeline starts you at one historical event and sets another, later one as your goal. At each of five steps you pick between two events: one moves you forward towards the goal, the other back. Get all five right for a perfect journey.

About Daily Timeline

Daily Timeline is a short history puzzle about the order of events. Each day's journey has a starting point, such as the signing of Magna Carta, and a destination further along in time. Between them are five steps, and at each step you are shown two events and must choose the one that comes closer to the goal.

A wrong pick does not end the game. You are shown the right answer and carry on, so you always reach the end; the score is how many of the five steps you got right. Each event comes with a short note on what happened and a less familiar detail about it, so a round teaches as much as it tests.

The events range across world history, from Viking raids and the Black Death to the Industrial Revolution, the world wars and recent decades. A perfect journey, all five right, keeps your streak going; the streak is stored in your browser without an account. A new journey arrives at midnight on your own clock, with a countdown on the result screen.

It is quicker than the drag-into-order timeline games, since each step is a choice between two, and suits anyone who wants two minutes of history a day.

How to play Daily Timeline

  1. Open Daily Timeline and read the starting event and the goal event.
  2. At each step, look at the two events offered.
  3. Pick the one that moves you forward in time towards the goal.
  4. If you are wrong, read the correct answer and carry on.
  5. Complete all five steps, read the notes on each event and share your result.

Tips

  • Place both options roughly in a century before choosing; often one is clearly before your current position.
  • Remember the goal is later than your start, so the forward option is the one between where you are and the goal.
  • Read the notes after each step: the details help with later journeys.

Questions

Does a wrong answer end the journey?

No. You are shown the right event and continue; all five right counts as a perfect journey.

When does a new journey start?

At midnight on your own device's clock.

How does the streak work?

It counts consecutive days with a perfect journey and is stored in your browser, so it does not follow you to another device.
