Earlier
Two events, one question: which happened earlier? Three times a day.
Every day: Three numbered 'which happened earlier' questions a day, the same for everyone, with a streak and a dated archive of past puzzles. New puzzle: Midnight UK time (Europe/London), per the countdown in the game's code.

Earlier asks one thing three times a day: of two events from history, which came first. Each answer reveals both dates, and you finish with a score out of three, a time and a grid to share. A numbered puzzle comes out each day and the archive keeps every past one.
About Earlier
Earlier is a short daily history quiz. Each numbered puzzle has three questions, and each question puts two events side by side, such as the Dunkirk evacuation and the publication of Silent Spring, or the signing of the US Constitution and the launch of Cadbury Dairy Milk. You pick the one you think happened first.
After each pick the game shows whether you were right and gives the dates of both events, so you learn something even from a miss. At the end you see your score out of three, your total time, how your speed compares with other players and your daily streak, with a grid of results you can copy and share.
The game counts its puzzles from 25 March 2026, and the archive page lists every puzzle by number and date with the two events in each pairing. The pairings jump between politics, science, sport, business and culture, so a guess often comes down to rough reasoning about decades rather than recall.
It suits anyone who wants a one-minute history fix, and players of timeline games like Chronle or Timdle who want a quicker daily.
How to play Earlier
- Open playearlier.com to load today's puzzle.
- Read the two events and tap the one you think happened earlier.
- See both dates, then move on to the next question.
- Answer all three, then check your score, time and streak.
- Share your result grid if you like, and visit the archive for past puzzles.
Tips
- When both events feel close, think about what each depends on: a broadcast needs radio, a flight record needs aircraft.
- Founding dates of companies and institutions are often older than people expect.
- Your total time is shown at the end and compared with other players, so read both events once and commit.
