Yesternerd
Four small history games a day: faces, lifelines, relics and threads.
Every day: Four short history games a day, the same set for everyone: name historical figures and objects from torn-away scraps, birth and death places, and clues, plus a grouping puzzle. New puzzle: Midnight (the site does not name the time zone).

Yesternerd is a daily set of four history games: Face Value, Lifeline, Relic and Thread. You name historical figures from a picture hidden under scraps or from where they were born and died, identify artefacts, and sort a grouping puzzle. New games arrive at midnight, the same for everyone, free and with no sign-up.
About Yesternerd
Yesternerd presents itself as a daily newspaper of history games, with four in each day's issue. Everyone gets the same set, and new games arrive at midnight.
In Face Value a famous face is hidden under nine paper scraps, one already torn open. You can only tear scraps that touch the open part, so you plan a route toward the most telling area before naming the figure. Relic works the same way with a historical object. Lifeline shows two dots on a map, where a person was born and where they died, with the years, and you type the name; spelling need not be perfect. Thread is a grouping puzzle with shuffle and submit, in the manner of Connections.
Scoring is the same across the runs of five rounds: each round is worth 100 points, and clues cost you. A tear costs 10, a wrong guess 15, a clue slip such as the figure's claim to fame 15 to 25, and asking for three choices 80. Two correct answers in a row earn a bonus. Your day's score is your round average, and a streak counts the days you play.
It is free in the browser, works offline once loaded and can be saved to a phone's home screen. It suits players who like Historydle or Chronophoto and want several short history puzzles in one place.
How to play Yesternerd
- Open yesternerd.app and pick one of the day's four games.
- In Face Value or Relic, tear away scraps next to the open one, then name the figure or object.
- In Lifeline, read where and when a person was born and died, and type their name.
- In Thread, sort the tiles into their groups and submit.
- Spend clues only when needed; your day's score is the average of your rounds.
Tips
- In Face Value, tear toward the middle of the picture, where faces usually sit.
- In Lifeline, the years narrow the era fast; think of who was famous in both places.
- Three choices costs 80 points, so try a cheaper clue slip first.
