Daily 5 Trivia is an iPhone quiz with one set of five questions a day, written by people rather than generated, and themed around a decade such as the 1980s or 1990s. Everyone plays the same quiz, gets one attempt, and scores more for fast correct answers, with a global leaderboard showing country flags.

About Daily 5 Trivia - Retro Quiz

Daily 5 Trivia, subtitled Retro Quiz, is a small app by Matthew Garvin that bills itself as the Wordle of trivia. Every midnight a new quiz of five questions goes live, and the whole thing takes a minute or two.

The twist is a weekly decade theme: one week the questions are about the 1960s, another the 1970s or 1980s, with the 1990s coming up most often. Questions cover TV, music, news, products and everyday life of the era. They are written by a group of contributors, many of them players who volunteered, and the app makes a point of being made by people.

You get one try at the day's quiz, and the score depends on speed as well as accuracy, since faster correct answers earn more. Results go onto a world ranking with country flags. The correct answers are shown at the end, and some quizzes come with longer write-ups on a topic, called Rabbit Holes. A recent update added a casual mode.

There are no ads and no tracking. It suits nostalgic trivia fans, especially those who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, who want a quick daily round with some competition.
