Historydle
Name the day's historical figure from era, region and role clues.
Every day: Four new history puzzles each day, the same for everyone: a historical figure to find from attributes, a quote to attribute, a portrait to name and a historic place to identify. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

Historydle is a daily guessing game about people and places from history. Each day you find a mystery figure from clues about their era, region and role, then name the speaker of a quote, the subject of a portrait and a historic landmark.
About Historydle
Historydle applies the attribute-guessing format of games like Loldle to world history. In the classic mode you type the name of any figure from its list of more than 199 people, from Cleopatra and Confucius to Marie Curie and Nelson Mandela. Each guess shows how its gender, region, era, role and status compare with the day's answer, so you can close in on the right person over a few tries.
The era column does more work than the others. It turns green on an exact match, yellow when your guess comes from a neighbouring period, and shows an arrow telling you whether the answer lived earlier or later. The other columns are a plain match or miss. Guesses are unlimited, so the challenge is how few you need rather than whether you finish.
Beside the classic mode sit three more daily puzzles: a quote mode where you name who said a line, a portrait mode where you recognise a figure from a picture, and a places mode built on landmarks such as palaces, fortresses and natural sites. The game keeps a streak for each mode, has high contrast and colourblind settings, and runs in English, Spanish and Turkish with no account. It suits students and anyone who likes history trivia in short daily doses.
How to play Historydle
- Open the classic mode and type the name of any historical figure from the list.
- Read the coloured columns: green is a match, yellow on the era column means a neighbouring period, and an arrow shows whether the answer lived earlier or later.
- Keep guessing until you find the figure; there is no limit on guesses.
- Play the quote, portrait and places modes for the rest of the day's puzzles.
- Come back the next day for new answers and to keep your streaks going.
Tips
- Open with a figure from a middle era such as the Renaissance, so the era arrow tells you which way to go.
- Settle the region early; it cuts the list of candidates faster than gender or status.
- In the quote mode, think about the language and period the line comes from before guessing the speaker.
