LoLdle Classic mode with coloured clue tiles for guessed champions

LoLdle is a daily guessing game for League of Legends players. Each day there is one champion to find in each of five modes, from attribute clues to a voice line or a cropped splash art, and everyone gets the same answers. It runs in a browser and as an app.

About LoLdle

LoLdle takes the Wordle idea and points it at League of Legends. Instead of a five-letter word, the daily answer is a champion, and instead of coloured letters you get coloured facts about each champion you guess: position, species, resource, range type, region, gender and release year. Green means a property matches, orange means a partial match and red means no match, with arrows telling you whether the release year is earlier or later.

The Classic mode is only the start. Quote mode shows a line the champion says in a game or in champion select, and you can hear it once you solve it. Ability mode shows the icon of one spell without its name, with an optional bonus round to name which key it sits on. Emoji mode reveals one emoji per try, and Splash mode shows a small crop of a splash art from any of the champion's skins. Each mode has its own answer for the day.

The game is made by Benjamin Widawski under Riot Games' fan content policy, and it is not endorsed by Riot. You pick a Europe or America time zone, which decides when your day turns over. The site and the apps show how many players have already found the champion and who yesterday's answer was.

It suits League players who know the roster well, and it is a gentle way to learn the parts of it you do not know. A full set of five modes takes about as long as a single draft.

How to play LoLdle

  1. Open LoLdle and pick the Europe or America time zone.
  2. In Classic mode, type any champion's name and submit it.
  3. Read the tiles: green is an exact match, orange is a partial match, red is wrong, and the arrow on release year points to the right year.
  4. Narrow the roster with each guess until you name the champion.
  5. Move on to the Quote, Ability, Emoji and Splash modes, each with its own champion for the day.

Tips

  • Open with a champion who shares many common traits, such as a human from a large region, to rule out the most with one guess.
  • Lock in the position and region first: they split the roster fastest.
  • In Splash mode the crop can come from any skin, so think about skin lines and not just the default art.
  • Turn on the challenger options in Ability mode (grey filter, random rotation) once the normal version gets easy.
