Smashdle is a daily guessing game about the Super Smash Bros. roster from the maker of LoLdle. Each of five modes has one fighter to find each day, from attribute clues to the power Kirby gets after swallowing them, and everyone gets the same answers. An Infinite mode gives extra Classic rounds.

About Smashdle

Smashdle is a browser game in which you guess a fighter from the Super Smash Bros. series every day. It is made by Benjamin Widawski, who also makes LoLdle, and uses the same layout and modes system. It is a fan project, and the site states that Nintendo does not endorse or sponsor it.

Classic mode is where most players start. You type any fighter's name and the game compares it with the hidden one across gender, species, universe (the series the character comes from), weight, the console they first appeared on, the first Smash game where they were playable, and the year they first appeared in their own series. Green means a match, orange a partial match such as one of two species, and red no match, with arrows on weight and year. After several misses you can open a clue with the name of the fighter's Final Smash, or a zoomed shadow.

Each other mode has its own fighter. Kirby asks whose power Kirby has copied after swallowing them, with a clue that shows the copied move in action. Final Smash shows the fighter's Final Smash animation. Silhouette shows a close crop of a shadow that zooms out with each try. Emoji gives a row of emojis that grows by one with every guess, and everyone sees the same emojis. Infinite offers unlimited Classic rounds.

There is a daily streak, a statistics page and a Europe or America time zone setting that decides when the new fighters arrive. Smashdle suits players who know the roster and the history behind it, from first appearances to which console a character came from.

How to play Smashdle

  1. Open Smashdle and choose the Europe or America time zone in the settings.
  2. In Classic mode, type any fighter's name and submit it.
  3. Read the tiles: green is an exact match, orange is partial, red is no match, and arrows show whether the answer's weight or origin year is higher or lower.
  4. Keep guessing, opening the Final Smash or silhouette clue if needed, until you find the fighter.
  5. Play Kirby, Final Smash, Silhouette and Emoji, each with its own fighter for the day.

Tips

  • Settle the universe column first: many series have only one or two fighters, so a green there nearly ends the round.
  • Use platform of origin and origin year together to tell apart fighters from the same series.
  • In Kirby mode, think about which fighters have a signature neutral special move, since that is the move Kirby copies.
  • In Emoji mode, guess early: each guess reveals one more emoji, so a wrong guess still buys a new hint.
