BGDLE for 3 October 2026: the hidden game card with question marks for name, players, playtime, age, publisher, designers, artists, categories and mechanics above the search bar

BGDLE is a daily guessing game for board gamers. Each day one game from the BoardGameGeek top 1000 is hidden, and every game you guess is compared with it on year, players, playtime, age, publisher, designers, artists, categories and mechanics. The aim is to find it in as few guesses as possible.

About BGDLE

BGDLE, short for board game wordle, is a small fan project powered by BoardGameGeek data. Every day its maker picks one game from the BGG top 1000, and every player tries to name the same game; a countdown at the top shows the time left until the next daily at midnight UTC.

You guess by typing a title in the search bar and picking it from the list. Number fields, such as year released, minimum and maximum players, playtime on the box and minimum age, are coloured to show whether the answer is higher or lower, with matching arrows. The publisher (the first one listed on BGG) either matches or does not. Designers, artists, categories and mechanics are lists, so the game shows how many of the answer's entries you have found so far, and correct ones are collected above the search bar.

Once you have found some properties you can click one to filter the search list, which counts as a hint. If you get really stuck, every ten guesses reveals the next unknown letter of the title. An optional login keeps your wins, streak and average, and the result can be shared without spoilers. The same site also links to BGDOKU, a board game grid puzzle.

How to play BGDLE

  1. Open bgdle.org and type a board game's title in the search bar.
  2. Pick it from the list to submit the guess.
  3. Read the comparison: green for matches, higher or lower arrows for year, players, playtime and age.
  4. Use found designers, categories and mechanics as filters to narrow the search list.
  5. Keep guessing until you name the game; every ten guesses a title letter is revealed.

Tips

  • Start with a well known mid-weight game to fix the year and playtime range quickly.
  • Mechanics such as Deck Building or Worker Placement narrow the field more than categories do.
  • Filters count as hints, so set one only when the list is too long to scan.
  • The publisher is the first one listed on BGG, which may not be the edition you own.
