PricedIn edition for Oct 2, 2026 styled as a supermarket circular, featuring Vicks VapoRub with anchor-year buttons from 1976 to 2026 and the how-to-play note

PricedIn is a daily price-history game styled like a supermarket circular. Each day features one familiar item; you choose one year to see its real US average price as a baseline, then estimate the price in the other five decades, aiming to land within 10 percent.

About PricedIn

PricedIn mixes trivia with estimation and a little economics. Each edition is dated and features one product with its size and unit, for example a 100 g tub of Vicks VapoRub at the US national average price. The years on offer run in ten-year steps from 1976 to 2026.

You start by picking an anchor year, and the game reveals the exact price for that year. From that baseline you estimate the price in the other five years, thinking about inflation and how the product's market changed; a guess within 10 percent counts. After the daily item there is a bonus round for more.

The daily item is stored by date, so everyone playing on the same day gets the same product. The site is independent and not affiliated with the brands it features. It suits people who like The Price Is Right style guessing and anyone curious about how far prices have moved over fifty years.

How to play PricedIn

  1. Read today's featured item and its size.
  2. Pick an anchor year from 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016 and 2026 to reveal its price that year.
  3. Estimate the price in the other five years, aiming for within 10 percent.
  4. See how many you got right, then try the bonus round.

Tips

  • Choose a middle year such as 1996 or 2006 as your anchor; it is easier to scale both ways.
  • As a rough guide, general US prices roughly doubled between the mid-1980s and the mid-2010s.
  • Branded goods often rose faster than general inflation; technology items often fell.
  • Use the revealed answers to calibrate for the bonus round.
