About Nova - Daily Word Puzzle

Nova is a daily word puzzle for iPhone and iPad by Matthew Leonard, who publishes it under the name Stellar Studios. It came out on the App Store in October 2025. The studio describes it as a calm, space-themed take on the word of the day, social when you want it and quiet when you do not.

Each day everyone gets the same hidden five-letter word and six tries to find it. After each guess the tiles turn green for a letter in the right spot and yellow for a letter that is in the word but somewhere else, and the on-screen keyboard keeps track of which letters you have used. The home screen shows your progress on the day's puzzle, your streak and how many attempts you have used.

What sets Nova apart from plain Wordle copies is the social side. You can make or join groups with an invite code, and each group sees a race on the day's word, with hearts to give to friends' scores and a way to challenge someone after you solve. There is also a global leaderboard and a share that does not give the answer away.

Past puzzles live in the Retro Vault. Keeping a streak unlocks sets of throwback puzzles, such as the last week's unsolved words. Nova Plus, a monthly or yearly subscription, opens the whole vault without streak gates and adds an unlimited practice mode, streak freezes, deeper stats and extra profile colours. The daily puzzle stays free and is shown without ads. Later updates added two other small games, Nova Mines and Circuit Flip, beside the word puzzle.

Nova suits players who already like Wordle and want a group of friends to play the same word with each day, inside one app.

How to play Nova - Daily Word Puzzle

1. Open Nova and tap Play Daily Nova on the home screen.
2. Type any five-letter word on the keyboard and press Enter.
3. Read the tiles: green means the letter is in that spot, yellow means it is in the word but elsewhere, grey means it is not in the word.
4. Use what you learned for your next guess, and find the word within six tries.
5. Check your group's race and the leaderboard, or share your result without the answer.

Tips

• Start with a word that has several common vowels and consonants to sort out letters quickly.
• Watch the keyboard colours so you do not reuse letters already ruled out.
• Keep your streak going: it is what unlocks the throwback sets in the Retro Vault for free players.
• Make a group and send the invite code to friends so you have a daily race to compare against.
