Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok is a Norse-themed roguelite in the Vampire Survivors mould from Noxfall Studios. Besides its adventure and ranked Ragnarok modes, it has a Daily Challenge: a run with the day's realm, restrictions and blessings set the same for everyone, with times posted to a ranking.
About Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok
In Nordic Ashes you pick a hero such as the Viking warrior Axeldör, the ranger Thyra or the elementalist Hafgrim and try to survive waves of creatures across nine realms of Norse mythology. Weapons fire automatically while you move; levelling up adds weapons and abilities, and relics, constellation skill trees and the Yggdrasil meta-progression tree make each character stronger over time.
The game has five modes: Adventure, Ragnarok (ranked runs), Daily Challenge, Custom and Nightmare. The Daily Challenge sets a realm, a character or restriction and a set of curses or blessings for the day, and the developers have fixed bugs specifically so that every player sees the same daily setup. Completing it earns seeds and golden badges, which can be spent on golden skins for each character, and your time is posted to the daily ranking. If you miss a day, you can still claim the previous day's challenge for reduced rewards.
Noxfall Studios launched the game in early access in 2023 and released version 1.0 in April 2024 on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux, with Steam Deck support, and has since added characters, a Lightning speed mode and the Twilight of Yggdrasil DLC. It suits fans of Vampire Survivors and other bullet-heaven games who want a daily target.
