How Many Dudes? The Roguelike Autobattler
Recruit an army of Dudes, and see how far the day's team gets.
Every day: The Daily Dude: a random team of Dudes picked for the day, the same for everyone in the world. You see how far that team can get, and you can replay it as often as you like until midnight, when a new team takes over. New puzzle: Midnight; the game does not say which time zone.

How Many Dudes? is a roguelike autobattler where you build a team of five Dude types, add relics and trinkets, and watch them fight waves of toddlers, gorillas, ducks and gods. The Daily Dude hands every player the same random team each day to see who can take it furthest.
About How Many Dudes? The Roguelike Autobattler
How Many Dudes? is by Butterscotch Shenanigans and came out on Steam in July 2026 after a demo that was downloaded more than 475,000 times. The question in the title is the game: how many dudes does it take to beat a gorilla, a thousand toddlers or a horse-sized duck?
You run the Dude Ranch. Each run you recruit Dudes from five types chosen from 42, across six families such as Undead, Employed and Sci-Fi, then the battles play out on their own. Your decisions are between fights: which Dudes to hire, which relics to take, which Dude type gets the trinket from an act boss, and what to do when wandering Dudes come by with deals. Synergies are the point, like Zombie Dudes that explode when hit or Cowboy Dudes that lasso others out of danger.
The Daily Dude replaces your choice of team with a random one that is the same for everyone in the world that day. You see how far that team gets, and if a run goes badly you can try again as often as you like until midnight, when a new team arrives. Ensemble Mode, unlocked through play, lets you pick your own team in the same way.
It suits players who like build-crafting and silly chaos more than fast reflexes; the fights need no input once they start.

Tips
- Look for relics that work with the Dude types the day gives you rather than the strongest-looking one.
- Balance Dudes that deal damage with ones that absorb it or support others.
- Since retries are unlimited until midnight, use early runs to learn which of the day's Dudes carry the team.
