Hollywoodle
Guess the day's movie from its poster.
Every day: One film a day: name it from a blurred poster that gets sharper with every wrong guess, in five tries. An unlimited mode runs beside the daily. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone.

Hollywoodle is a daily movie guessing game: each day you try to name a film from its poster, which starts blurred and clears a little after each miss. You get five guesses, and an unlimited mode lets you keep playing after the daily.
About Hollywoodle
Hollywoodle shows you a film poster so blurred that you can only make out colours and shapes, and asks you to name the film. Type a title, pick it from the search results and submit. Each wrong guess takes some of the blur away, so the title text, faces and artwork come into view bit by bit. You have five guesses in all.
The daily film is drawn from the movies that are popular on The Movie Database at the time, so the answers are mostly recent releases and well known titles rather than deep cuts. The daily changes at midnight on your own device's clock, and a countdown shows when the next one arrives. When you finish, you can copy a short line of green and red squares to share how many guesses you took. An unlimited mode picks a random popular film whenever you want another round.
The game runs in the browser with no account. It is short, usually a minute or two, and suits people who follow current films and remember posters well. Players who prefer stills or quotes as clues will find those in other daily movie games.
How to play Hollywoodle
- Open Hollywoodle and look at the blurred poster for the day's film.
- Type a film title in the search box and pick it from the list to guess.
- After each wrong guess the poster gets sharper; you have five guesses in all.
- When you finish, copy your result to share it, or switch to unlimited mode for more rounds.
- Come back after midnight for a new film.
Tips
- Use the first guess on the colour and layout: dark posters with a single figure often mean a thriller or horror film, bright crowded ones a comedy or animation.
- The answers come from films that are popular right now, so think of recent releases first.
- Title text usually becomes readable around the third or fourth guess; look for its length and shape before that.
