Movidle
Guess the day's film from pieces of its poster, one clue and a one-line plot.
Every day: One film a day, the same worldwide: guess it in seven tries from pieces of its poster, a trivia clue and a one-line synopsis. Each weekday has its own category, and past puzzles are in an archive. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time.

Movidle is a free daily movie guessing game. Each day one film is hidden behind its poster, shown a piece at a time, with a trivia clue and a one-line synopsis as extra help, and you have seven guesses. There is an archive of past films and an unlimited mode.
About Movidle
Movidle hides one film a day behind its own poster. You start with part of the poster and type a title. Wrong guesses bring more help: five poster pieces, a trivia clue and a one-line synopsis, for seven tries in total. The share grid shows how many tries you needed without giving the film away.
The category changes with the day of the week, rotating through All-Time Greats, Action, Sci-Fi, Drama, Thriller, Animation and Black and White Classics, so the difficulty and the era vary across a week. The daily film is the same for every player and changes at midnight US Eastern Time.
Past puzzles can be played from an archive, and an Unlimited mode serves random rounds without repeats for anyone who wants more. The game needs no install and no account.
The site points out that it is a different game from Moviedle, which uses film footage, and from Framed, which uses film stills. Movidle uses only the poster, so it suits players who remember how films were sold as much as how they look on screen.
How to play Movidle
- Open movidle.fun; today's puzzle starts with part of a film poster.
- Type the title of the film you think it is and pick it from the list.
- After a wrong guess, look at the new piece of help: more of the poster, a trivia clue or the synopsis.
- Find the film within seven tries, then share your grid or open the archive.
Tips
- Check the day of the week first: the category tells you whether to think of animation, thrillers or black and white classics.
- Typography and colour on a poster fragment often point to a decade before the image does.
- Save a guess for after the synopsis if the poster pieces leave two films in play.
