Plot-hole
Name the movie from five plot clues before they give it away.
Every day: One numbered movie a day, the same for every player: five plot clues that run from vague to near giveaway, and the earlier you name the film, the higher you score. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time.

Plot-hole is a free daily movie guessing game. You start with a vague clue about the setting or genre, and each clue you reveal gets more specific, through a character, the conflict and a memorable scene to the actors and director. Your score is the number of the clue you guessed on, five down to one.
About Plot-hole
Plot-hole is a daily movie trivia game with a numbered puzzle each day, the same for everyone, and an archive of past puzzles to catch up on. It has no ads, no account and no paywall.
Each puzzle has five clues, counted down. Clue 5, the setup, gives only a genre, a setting or a mood. Clue 4 introduces a key character without naming them. Clue 3 describes the central conflict. Clue 2 gives a memorable scene, line or detail, which is where most players get it. Clue 1, the spoiler, names the actors, the director or the year.
Your score is the clue number on which you guess right: 5 out of 5 if you get it from the setup alone, 1 if you need the spoiler, 0 if you never get it. Streaks reward playing every day, and the site keeps all-time leaderboards. Newer side modes include Movie DNA, a poster mode and Badly, which describes films badly on purpose.
The clues are written about the story, not the credits, so it suits players who remember plots better than cast lists.
How to play Plot-hole
- Open Plot-hole and read Clue 5, the vaguest description of the day's film.
- Type a guess, or reveal the next clue.
- Each new clue is more specific: a character, the conflict, a memorable scene.
- Clue 1 names the actors, director or year.
- Your score is the number of the clue you guessed on; share it and keep your streak.
Tips
- Read the setup for genre and place before guessing; a wrong guess here costs nothing but the clue still helps.
- The character clue often names a job or relationship that fits only a few famous films.
- Most players get it at Clue 2: if a scene or line rings a bell, trust it.
- Use the archive to practise the clue style on past puzzles.
