Moviedle
Name the film of the day from its hidden cast list, unlocking actors with every guess.
Every day: One mystery film a day, the same for everyone, worked out from its hidden cast list: each guess reveals the actors and director it shares with the answer. The site also runs daily Moviemoji, Classic, Fill The Grid and Twenty Questions puzzles, and keeps an archive of past days. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone (the game uses your device's date and counts down to local midnight).

Moviedle hides a film each day behind a table of its cast, with every name masked but each actor's age at release shown. Each film you guess reveals any actors and director it shares with the answer, along with hints about the year and genres. It is a sister site of Actorle and adds daily emoji, classic film, grid and twenty-questions puzzles.
About Moviedle
Moviedle is a daily film guessing game by Laszlo Kiss, the developer of Actorle. Actorle asks you to name an actor from their films; Moviedle turns that round and asks you to name a film from its actors.
The puzzle is a table listing the whole cast of the mystery film with the names hidden. What you can see from the start is how old each actor was when the film came out, which already hints at whether you are looking for a young ensemble or a cast of veterans. You then guess films by title. Every actor and director your guess shares with the mystery film is revealed, so even a wrong answer fills in part of the table. A coloured bar marks each guess green for the right film, amber when it shares someone with it and red when it has nothing in common.
Each guess also narrows the release year from both sides, and any genre your guess shares with the answer is shown. The game configuration allows eight guesses. If you miss a day, the archive lets you go back and play it.
The site has grown into a small collection of film puzzles: Moviemoji, where a film is told in emoji, a Classic mode for older films, Fill The Grid and Twenty Questions, each with its own archive. Accounts, groups and the optional Actorle Plus subscription are shared with Actorle and its iPhone app.
How to play Moviedle
- Open moviedle.xyz and look at the table of hidden cast members and their ages at release.
- Type the title of a film you think it could be and pick it from the list.
- Read the result: shared actors and director are revealed, and the bar shows green, amber or red.
- Use the narrowing year range and any revealed genres to choose your next guess.
- Keep going until you name the film, then share your result.
Tips
- Use the ages first: a cast of children or a lead in their seventies narrows things a lot.
- Guess a well-known film from the right era with a big cast; even a wrong pick can unlock several names.
- Watch the year range closing in from both sides and stay inside it.
- Once one actor is revealed, think of their other films from that period.
