Hearsay (Mind Loft)
Deduce the secret from what two people say they do not know.
Every day: One knowledge puzzle a day, the same for every player: a public shortlist, two people who each know one detail, and a short conversation that narrows the list to a single answer. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time.

Hearsay is a free daily logic puzzle from Mind Loft in the family made famous by Cheryl's Birthday. A shortlist of candidates is public; two people are each told one detail of the secret entry, and a few lines of their conversation are enough for you to work out which entry it is.
About Hearsay (Mind Loft)
Hearsay is built on the kind of puzzle where ignorance carries information. A list of candidates, such as entries on a ringing sheet, is shown to everyone. Two people (three on Sundays) are each told a single detail of the secret entry and nothing else. Then they speak, a few lines at a time, saying whether they know the answer yet.
When someone says they cannot work it out, every candidate that would have given them the answer is ruled out. When someone says that now they can, the candidates that would have left them unsure fall away. Each line cuts the list, and exactly one entry survives all of them. You uncover the conversation and cross out candidates until you can name it.
Wrong answers are counted, and the leaderboard compares score and time. A new case appears every day at midnight Eastern, with a third voice added on Sundays. It sits beside Axiom, Sworn and Alibi in Mind Loft's logic set.
How to play Hearsay (Mind Loft)
- Open Hearsay and press Hear them out to reveal the candidates and the first line.
- Note which detail each person was told, such as one part of the entry each.
- For each line of conversation, cross out every candidate it rules out.
- When one candidate is left, name it.
Tips
- A line like 'I don't know' removes every candidate whose detail is unique on the list.
- Work line by line and recount the list after each; earlier cuts change what later lines mean.
- Write down, for each detail value, how many candidates share it.
