GeoOracle puzzle #112: the place's first-person opening line and first clue, a Reveal clue 2 button, a question box with three questions left and a guess box with six guesses left

GeoOracle is a daily geography riddle. Each day one place on Earth speaks in the first person without saying its name, gives up to five clues from cryptic to obvious, and answers up to three of your questions. Name it in six guesses and keep as many of your 100 points as you can.

About GeoOracle

GeoOracle numbers its daily puzzles; 3 October 2026 was #112. The day's place opens with a line about itself, such as "I stand where ancient ambition met the sea", and a first clue. Every further clue costs points, and so does every question you type to it and every wrong guess, so the score is a record of how little help you needed.

You start with 100 points. The first clue is free and four more can be revealed for 10 to 15 points each. You may ask the place up to three questions in your own words for 10 points each; it answers in character but never names itself. You have six guesses, and each wrong one costs 5 points. Local names, older names and small typos are accepted.

The puzzles are built from a fact sheet for each place drawn from Wikidata and Wikipedia, and the clues and answers are generated from that sheet alone, with a second pass checking each clue against it. The site says plainly that its answers to questions can be wrong. It is free, needs no account and runs in English and German, with extra practice modes for countries, capitals, landmarks and flags.

It suits players who like Worldle or Citydle but would rather reason from history and culture than from shapes on a map.

How to play GeoOracle

  1. Open today's puzzle and read the place's opening line and first clue.
  2. Reveal more clues if you need them; each costs points.
  3. Ask the place up to three questions in your own words.
  4. Type your guess; you have six, and wrong ones cost 5 points.
  5. Name the place to keep the points you have left, then share your score.

Tips

  • Read the free clue for concrete facts (a river delta, a founder, a coastline) before spending points.
  • Questions are cheaper than wrong guesses when you are down to two or three candidates.
  • Ask yes-or-no questions that split the world in half, like which continent or whether it is a capital.
  • Local and historical names count, so do not worry about spelling a city's English name.
