FilmLink
Connect two films through the people who worked on both.
Every day: One pair of films a day, the same for every player: link the start film to the hidden target through shared cast and crew, in as few links or as little time as you can. New puzzle: Once a day; the site does not state the time.

FilmLink is a free daily movie game in the spirit of six degrees. Each day everyone gets the same start film and a hidden target, and you build a chain between them through actors, directors and other crew, aiming for the fewest links or the fastest time. There is an archive of past pairs, a hard mode and multiplayer.
About FilmLink
FilmLink is a browser game about how films connect. Each day has a titled puzzle, such as Something Wicked or The Dude Abides, and a pair of films: one you start from, and a target you reveal when you press Start. Every player gets the same pair.
You move from film to film through the people in their credits. Pick an actor or a crew member from the start film, then one of their other films, then someone from that film, and so on until you reach the target. Every credit counts, so a cinematographer or a composer can be the shortcut an actor is not. You can aim for the shortest chain, or race the clock.
The home page shows the week's puzzles, and the archive keeps earlier days. There is also a tutorial with an untimed sample puzzle, a hard mode in beta, ranked multiplayer, leagues and a leaderboard, and none of it needs an account to start.
It suits players who like the Kevin Bacon game and anyone who reads full credits lists, not only the poster names.
How to play FilmLink
- Open FilmLink and look at the day's start film.
- Press Start to reveal the hidden target film.
- Choose someone from the start film's cast or crew, then one of their other films.
- Keep stepping from film to person to film until you reach the target.
- Finish in as few links, or as fast, as you can, then share your result.
Tips
- Look for prolific character actors and composers; they link far more films than stars do.
- Work backwards in your head from the target: who in its credits also worked in the start film's era or genre?
- Directors who reuse the same actors make good bridges between their films.
- Try the tutorial first; it is untimed and unscored.
