Every day: A Daily Challenge run, added with version 1.0 in April 2026: each day the game sets up one challenge, a combination of character and conditions, as a run of its own next to the normal mode. New puzzle: Once a day; the game does not say at what hour.

Dungeon Clawler on floor 3: a claw hangs over a tank of weapons and shields while a blue hero faces a slime and two rat enemies

Dungeon Clawler is a roguelike deckbuilder in which every turn you steer a claw machine to grab weapons, shields and items from a pile, then use what you caught on the monsters in front of you. Since its 1.0 release it has a Daily Challenge mode with a new challenge run each day. It is a paid game on PC, Mac, Linux, phones, Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.

About Dungeon Clawler

Dungeon Clawler is a roguelike from Stray Fawn Studio, a studio in Zurich. It came out in Early Access on Steam in November 2024 and reached version 1.0 on 30 April 2026, when it also arrived on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The mobile versions for iOS and Android are sold separately.

The twist is the claw machine. Instead of drawing cards, you move a claw over a tank full of your items and drop it: whatever it grips, a sword, a shield, a bomb, a coin, is what you play that turn. Between fights you add new items to the tank, upgrade them, pick perks and choose a route through twenty floors of the dungeon, ending with a boss. After the boss the run can go on in an endless mode.

The 1.0 update added a Daily Challenge mode. Each day it offers one challenge run built from a combination of character and conditions, so the day's run is a puzzle of its own next to your normal unlocks and difficulty levels. A patch in May 2026 adjusted the daily so it no longer hands out combinations that cannot be played.

It suits players of Slay the Spire and other deckbuilders who want something lighter and a little sillier, where aim and a bit of luck with the claw matter as much as the build.

How to play Dungeon Clawler

  1. Open Daily Challenge from the main menu to start the day's run.
  2. On your turn, move the claw over the tank and drop it to grab items; you can grab more than one at a time.
  3. Use the weapons you grabbed to hit enemies and the shields to block their next attack.
  4. After each fight, add a new item to the tank, upgrade items or pick a perk.
  5. Choose your route on the map and get as far as you can through the floors and the boss.

Tips

  • Aim the claw where items are packed together: one grab can lift several at once.
  • Too many weak items in the tank make it harder to catch your best ones, so be choosy about what you add.
  • Read the day's challenge before you start: it decides which items and perks are worth taking.
