Diminoes tutorial level 1: a 5x5 grid with four squares lit in a T shape and a teal T tetromino being dragged from the pieces panel

Diminoes is a small free puzzle from SilliestDuck that mixes Lights Out with tetris pieces. Each day's board is a 5x5 grid with some squares lit, and you drag the given tetrominoes onto it; every square a piece covers flips on or off. Use all the pieces so that no light is left on.

About Diminoes

Diminoes is one of SilliestDuck's browser puzzle games. It installs as a web app and works offline, and it has two parts: a daily puzzle and a campaign of tiny levels that starts with a tutorial.

The board is a five by five grid. Some squares start lit, and beside the board is a set of tetromino pieces, the four-square shapes known from Tetris. Dragging a piece onto the grid flips every square under it, so a lit square goes dark and a dark one lights up. The puzzle is solved when the pieces are placed and every light is off. Undo and restart buttons let you try again.

The daily puzzle is chosen by date from a list of prepared boards, so everyone gets the same one, and the day turns over at 05:00 UTC. Because a square covered twice ends up as it started, the order of the pieces does not matter, only where each one lands, which makes it a puzzle of covering the lit squares an odd number of times.

It suits players who like short, quiet spatial puzzles such as Lights Out or polyomino packing, and want one small board a day.

How to play Diminoes

  1. Open Diminoes and choose the daily puzzle.
  2. Look at which squares of the 5x5 grid are lit and which pieces you have.
  3. Drag a tetromino onto the grid; every square it covers flips on or off.
  4. Place the rest of the pieces the same way, using undo or restart when needed.
  5. Finish with every light off.

Tips

  • A square covered twice goes back to how it started, so overlaps can be used on purpose.
  • Start with lit squares in corners and edges: few placements can reach them.
  • Count the lit squares: with each piece covering four, the overlaps you need follow from the total.
