Gioca a Cifretto

Cifretto Puzzle #161 with an empty eight-column grid, length selector from Mini (6) to Custom (12) and the rules panel in Italian

Cifretto is an unofficial Italian version of Nerdle by Maurizio Fonte. Each day there is a numbered equation to find in six attempts, and every length from 6 (mini) to 12 characters has its own daily puzzle, the same for all players. An archive and a random training mode sit alongside it.

About Cifretto (mauriziofonte.it)

Cifretto is one of a small set of daily puzzles on Maurizio Fonte's website, next to Lemmia, Connessioni, Legami and Matassa. It takes the Nerdle idea and presents it in Italian: the answer is a hidden arithmetic equation, and each guess must itself be a valid equation using the digits 0 to 9 and the operators plus, minus, times, divide and equals.

After each guess the tiles turn green for a character in the right place, yellow for one that appears elsewhere and grey for one not in the equation. The rules are strict: one equals sign, no leading zeros, no negative intermediate results and no division with a remainder. You can choose the length, from a six-character mini through the classic eight to an extreme twelve, and each length has its own daily puzzle, statistics and streak. Hard mode forces you to reuse what you have found, and a strict mode refuses commuted answers such as 3+5=8 for 5+3=8.

The daily puzzles are numbered and identical for every player. Past days can be replayed from an archive and a random equation button gives unlimited practice, but neither counts toward your streak. There is no account; stats stay in your browser.

It suits players who like Nerdle or Wordle-style deduction with numbers, and Italian speakers who want a quick daily maths puzzle.

How to play Cifretto (mauriziofonte.it)

  1. Open Cifretto and pick an equation length, eight is the classic.
  2. Type a valid equation of that length and press Enter.
  3. Read the colours: green is the right character in the right place, yellow is in the equation elsewhere, grey is not in it.
  4. Use the clues to build better equations and find the answer within six tries.
  5. Share your result, then try another length or come back tomorrow.

Tips

  • Start with an equation that uses several different digits and two operators.
  • Remember the rules: no leading zeros, no negative steps, no remainders.
  • Work out where the equals sign goes early, it splits the problem in two.
  • Use training mode to practise longer lengths without breaking your streak.
