Chiave is the Italian word of the day on Cruciverba Lab, a five-letter guessing game in the Wordle format. Words come from an Italian dictionary rather than a translation, and each day's result earns points on the site's leaderboard.
About Chiave (Cruciverba Lab)
Chiave (the key) is one of the daily games on Cruciverba Lab, an independent Italian puzzle site run by Didap SRLS that also publishes a daily crossword, Ghigliottina and other word games. It follows the Wordle format: one hidden five-letter word, six guesses and coloured tiles as clues.
The word list is Italian from the start. Answers are common words a normal speaker knows, with no proper names, abbreviations or crossword rarities, and accents do not count (CITTÀ is typed CITTA). Any dictionary word, even a rare one, is accepted as a guess.
A day goes like this: you type a real five-letter word, see which letters are right and in place (green), right but elsewhere (ochre) or absent (grey), and narrow it down. If the sixth try is wrong the answer is shown, and green letters still earn a few points. The leaderboard counts only today's word; past days in the Raccolta can be replayed for practice (the last three with a free account, the full archive with Premium).
It suits Italian speakers and learners who want a short daily word game that counts towards a wider puzzle leaderboard.
How to play Chiave (Cruciverba Lab)
- Type a real Italian five-letter word and press Conferma.
- Green means the letter is in the right place, ochre means it is in the word elsewhere, grey means it is not in the word.
- Use the clues to narrow down the word in at most six tries.
- Check your points on the leaderboard; a new word comes at midnight.
Tips
- Italian words often end in a vowel, so test the last position early.
- Ignore accents: type the plain letter.
- Rare words are valid guesses, so use them to test several letters at once.
- Even a miss gives points for green letters, so keep going to the sixth try.
