About Wordform

Wordform is a small daily word puzzle by HydroEngineer, a civil engineer who makes games and simulations on the side. It runs on his site, Board Gaming Hub, and on itch.io, where it was published in September 2026. The page is a single-file game that needs no account, shows no ads and keeps working offline once loaded.

The rules are the familiar ones. You have six guesses to find a hidden five-letter word. After each guess the tiles flip to show which letters are in the right spot, which are in the word but somewhere else, and which are not in it at all. An on-screen keyboard marks the letters you have used, and the physical keyboard works too.

Daily mode gives every player the same word each day, and a share button copies your result as a grid of emoji. Random mode offers unlimited extra words for practice. The game keeps a count of your streak, wins and games played in the browser. Board Gaming Hub also has a daily word ladder called Drift.

It suits anyone who wants a plain, quick Wordle-style puzzle without sign-ups or clutter. It is free to play in the browser; on itch.io a standalone download can be bought for 1 dollar to support the maker.

How to play Wordform

1. Open Wordform and make sure Daily is selected.
2. Type a five-letter word and press Enter.
3. Read the tiles: one colour for right letter in the right spot, another for right letter in the wrong spot, a dark tile for a letter not in the word.
4. Use the clues to narrow down the word and find it within six guesses.
5. Press Share to copy your result as an emoji grid.

Tips

• Open with a word that has several common vowels and consonants, such as S, T, R and E.
• Do not reuse letters already shown as absent.
• Use Random mode to practise before the daily word.
