Gerdle is a daily word game in Cornish (Kernewek). Everyone gets the same five-letter Cornish word each day, spelled in the Standard Written Form, and has six tries to find it.

About Gerdle

Gerdle takes its name from the Cornish ger, word. Its description calls it a word-guessing game using a list of Kernewek five-letter words from the Cornish Standard Written Form (SWF), the spelling agreed in 2008 for schools and public use, and the page repeats that in Cornish: the dictionary is written in the Standard Written Form.

You type five-letter Cornish words and press Enter. The tiles turn green for a letter in the right place, yellow for a letter in the word elsewhere, and grey for a letter that is not in it. The about box (A-dro) says it is open source, with its code on GitHub, and built on the React Wordle clone known as Reactle.

The word is chosen by date, counting from 1 January 2022, so all players get the same one and it changes at midnight. A countdown shows when the next word arrives.

It suits Cornish speakers and the many learners of the revived language.
