Cyrdle
Wordle in Welsh: guess the day's five-letter Cymraeg word in six tries.
Every day: One five-letter Welsh word a day, the same for every player, to find in six tries; extra boards (bilingual Welsh and English, a maths board and themed boards) have daily answers too. New puzzle: Once a day (the site does not state the time).

Cyrdle is a daily Welsh word game, a Wordle Cymraeg. Everyone gets the same five-letter Welsh word each day and has six tries to find it. A menu of other boards adds a bilingual Welsh and English game, a head-to-head challenge mode and themed boards.
About Cyrdle
Cyrdle describes itself as a free daily Welsh word game: guess the word of the day (gair y dydd) in six tries. The interface is bilingual, with every instruction given in Welsh and English, and it has been running since February 2022.
The classic board works like Wordle with Welsh words. Each guess must be a valid five-letter word; after you press Enter the tiles turn green for a letter in the right place, yellow for a letter that is in the word elsewhere and grey for a letter that is not in it. The answer list and dictionary are Welsh, so digraphs such as ll, dd and ch count in the spelling.
The start screen offers other boards. The bilingual board pairs a Welsh word with its English translation: you can switch with a flag and solve the English word first as a clue, since both mean the same thing. There are boards that pair Welsh with French or Spanish, a maths board where you work out the five-digit question for a given answer, a microbiology board made with the Superbugs project, a head-to-head mode where you set a word for a friend, and seasonal boards such as a Six Nations rugby game. The daily boards share one answer for everyone each day.
It suits Welsh speakers and learners; the bilingual board is a gentle way in for learners.
How to play Cyrdle
- Open cyrdle.web.app and pick CYRDLE (Classic) for the Welsh daily.
- Type a five-letter Welsh word and press Enter (Mewn on the keyboard).
- Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in the word.
- Find the word within six tries, then try the bilingual board if you want a second puzzle.
Tips
- On the bilingual board, solving the English word first gives you the meaning of the Welsh one.
- Welsh vowels include w and y, so do not rule out words that look vowel-free in English terms.
- Try your second guess with fresh letters to learn more.
