Tubl Puzzle #289: its roundel logo, the Find Today's Station box with 5 guesses left, an empty guess list and the How to Play notes

Tubl is a daily London Underground puzzle: one mystery station from all 272, to find in five guesses. Each guess tells you how many stops away the answer is by the shortest Tube route, the compass direction to it and whether your station shares a line with it. A new numbered puzzle drops every day at midnight.

About Tubl

Tubl takes the Wordle idea to the London Underground. Every day there is one numbered mystery station, the same for every player (Puzzle #289 fell on 6 October 2026), picked from all 272 Tube stations. You type a station name and get three clues back.

The first is distance: how many stops away the answer is by the shortest Tube route. The second is a compass direction, such as SW, from your guess to the target. The third says whether your guess sits on the same line as the answer or a different one. Put together, the three let you triangulate: a station four stops west on a different line, then one stop west on the same line, and the next guess is close.

You have five guesses, one fewer than most station games, so each one has to count. A new puzzle comes at midnight. The page also points to a featured creator's videos on the history of Tube station names.

It suits Londoners and Tube fans who know the network well; the direction arrow helps visitors who know the map but not every line.

How to play Tubl

  1. Open tubl.uk and type a London Underground station name.
  2. Read the stop count: how far the answer is by the shortest Tube route.
  3. Read the compass direction from your guess to the answer.
  4. Check whether your guess is on the same line as the answer.
  5. Combine the clues and find the station within five guesses.

Tips

  • Open with a central station so both the distance and the direction narrow things down.
  • A Same line clue lets you count along that line by the stop number.
  • Use the compass point to choose between stations at the same distance.
