Squint
Name the city from three obscured photos that sharpen as you miss.
Every day: One numbered round a day, the same city for every player: three photos of it, each obscured a different way, that sharpen after every miss, with five guesses to name the city. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time (the round follows your device's calendar date).

Squint is a daily city guessing game from the travel app NomadMates. You get three photos of the same city, each hidden in a different way, and five guesses to name it. Every miss sharpens all three photos, and an arrow points from your guess toward the answer.
About Squint
Squint gives you one city a day and three photos of it. Each photo is obscured in its own way: one is a tight crop, one is pixelated and one is blurred. You can swipe between them and zoom in, looking for a skyline, a street sign, a style of building or a stretch of coast that gives the place away.
You have five guesses. Every wrong guess makes all three photos clearer, and the game shows an arrow pointing from the city you named toward the real one, so a miss still narrows the map. Rounds are numbered, and your result shares as Squint followed by the round number.
Squint is made for NomadMates, a travel app, and the same daily round is in the app on iOS. On the web it is free and needs no account. The round follows your own calendar date, so it changes at midnight where you are. It suits players who like photo geography games such as WhereTaken but want a city rather than a country.
How to play Squint
- Open Squint and press Play to load the day's three photos.
- Swipe between the photos and zoom in to look for clues.
- Type a city name and pick it from the list to make a guess.
- If you miss, all three photos get sharper and an arrow points toward the answer.
- Name the city within five guesses, then share your result.
Tips
- Use the first guess on a big city in the region you suspect: the arrow then tells you which way to move.
- Zoom into the cropped photo; small details like signs, plates or vegetation survive the crop.
- Compare all three photos before guessing, since each one hides different things.
- Think about climate and building materials to pick the continent before naming a city.
