Daily Spelldle #279: an empty eight-row grid with columns for spell, level, school, casting time, range, components, concentration, ritual, duration and class, above the spell name box

Spelldle hides one Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition spell each day. Every guess shows nine attributes of your spell, from level and school to duration and class, coloured by how close they are to the answer. You have eight tries.

About Spelldle (DailyJamm)

Spelldle is a daily guessing game for Dungeons & Dragons players, on DailyJamm. The answer is one spell from the 5th edition rules, drawn from a list of a few hundred, and you find it by guessing other spells and reading the clues they give back.

Each guess fills a row of nine tiles: level (cantrip to 9th), school of magic, casting time, range, components, concentration, ritual, duration and the classes that can cast it. A green tile matches the answer exactly. A yellow tile is close: a level within two, a range or duration one step away, components or classes that partly overlap. An arrow on level, range and duration shows whether the answer is higher or lower. A grey or red tile is no match.

The day's spell is the same for every player. The game counts days from 1 January 2026 in Chicago time and works through the spell list in a shuffled order, so each spell comes up once before any repeats. A new puzzle starts at midnight Central Time; the page shows the puzzle number (Daily Spelldle #279 on 6 October 2026), a countdown and your stats, and you can share your grid of coloured squares.

It plays like the attribute -dles for video games, but its subject is the tabletop game's spellbook, so it suits Dungeon Masters and players who know their spell lists by heart.

How to play Spelldle (DailyJamm)

  1. Type the name of any D&D 5e spell and pick it from the list, then press Guess.
  2. Read the nine tiles: green is an exact match, yellow is close, grey is no match.
  3. Follow the arrows on level, range and duration to go higher or lower.
  4. Use the school, components and class tiles to narrow the list, and guess again.
  5. Find the spell within eight guesses, then share your result.

Tips

  • Open with a common mid-level spell cast by several classes, such as a 3rd-level spell, so the level arrow and class overlap tell you a lot at once.
  • Concentration and ritual are yes-or-no: one guess settles each for the rest of the game.
  • A yellow class tile means at least one class is shared; try a spell from a single class next to see which one.
  • Components show yellow when they share a letter, so V, S and M can be pinned down one at a time.
