Shrimply

Shrimply's card: the pixel-art shrimp landing in France on a map of Europe under the title A daily geography game

Shrimply is a daily geography game with a shrimp in it. You guess today's country from a clue; each miss unlocks an easier one, five clues in all and then the flag. Every guess launches the shrimp onto a pixel-art world map, where it turns to face the answer and gets pinker the closer you are.

About Shrimply

Shrimply opens on a hand-drawn pixel-art map of the world with landmarks dotted across it. Each day's puzzle is numbered, and the task is to name one country. You start with a single clue written in the game's own words, each linking to where you can read more.

A wrong guess launches the shrimp to the country you named. It turns to face the answer and changes colour by distance: perfect, amazing for under 500 km or right next door, toasty from 500 to 2,000 km, lukewarm from 2,000 to 5,000 km, and try again beyond that. Heat is based on homeland borders, and each miss also unlocks an easier clue.

There are five clues and then the flag for a last shot, and from the fourth clue country names appear on the map to help. You can share your result and see your stats.

Shrimply is made by Michael Boujikian, who posts his games at andromeda-projects.com, and it suits players who like Globle and Worldle but want written clues as well.

Tips

  • Use the shrimp's direction as much as its colour: it points toward the answer.
  • Pick a large central country first to get a useful heat reading.
  • From clue four, country names appear on the map, so small states are easier to spot.
