RECKO

The RECKO card: Three numbers. Sixty seconds. No calculator, with a ?? plus ?? minus ?? equation

RECKO is a free daily estimation puzzle. You are given three quantities to estimate, each a number between 10 and 99, and the plus and minus signs between them, and you have sixty seconds to work out the result in your head, with no calculator. A hidden theme linking the three is revealed when you answer.

About RECKO

RECKO mixes trivia and mental arithmetic into a one-minute daily puzzle. Each day there is one puzzle, the same for everybody: three quantities you probably cannot know exactly, each somewhere between 10 and 99, laid out as a sum such as one number plus another minus a third.

You have sixty seconds and no calculator. You estimate each quantity and do the sum in your head, then enter the result. Afterwards the game reveals the true numbers and the hidden theme that links the three, which is often half the fun.

An archive, statistics and an optional sign-in with a leaderboard round it out.

It suits players who like Fermi questions and quick mental maths, and anyone who wants a tiny daily puzzle.

How to play RECKO

  1. Read the three quantities and the signs between them.
  2. Estimate each one, a number between 10 and 99.
  3. Add and subtract your estimates in your head.
  4. Enter the result before sixty seconds run out.
  5. See the real numbers and the hidden theme.

Tips

  • Round your estimates to make the mental sum easier.
  • Errors in opposite directions can cancel: think about the whole sum.
  • Use the theme, once revealed, to calibrate next time.
