Queenkan is a queens-style logic puzzle for iPhone and Android: place exactly one queen in each row, column and colour region, with no two queens touching. A new daily board arrives every midnight, the same for everyone. Its hints walk you through the reasoning instead of just placing a queen.
About Queenkan
Queenkan uses the rules made popular by LinkedIn's Queens. The board is a square grid split into coloured regions. You place exactly one queen in every row, every column and every region, and no two queens may touch, not even diagonally. Tapping a cell marks it with an X; tapping twice places a queen. Every board has exactly one solution, so there is always a next step you can reason out.
The daily puzzle is a new board every midnight, the same for every player, and solving it keeps a streak. Outside the daily there are more than 900 puzzles, from cozy 5x5 boards to 12x12 ones that need long chains of deduction. Two twist packs change the rules: Double queens asks for two queens in every row, column and colour, and Twin colors splits every colour into two separate pieces.
What sets Queenkan apart is its hints. Rather than only revealing a square, a hint explains the step on the board in plain terms, such as a placed queen blocking its row, column, colour and neighbours, or a colour that is confined to one row. The developer's site also explains strategies like confined regions and rows shared between two colours, and has a web version with puzzles by board size.
Queenkan is made by Dong Seok Lee and came out on the App Store in July 2026, with a Google Play version linked from its site. It needs no account, has no timer pressure and works offline. It suits Queens players who want more boards and want to learn the techniques behind them.
How to play Queenkan
- Open the Daily puzzle.
- Tap a cell once to mark it X (no queen); double tap to place a queen.
- Place one queen in every row, every column and every colour region.
- Make sure no two queens touch, including diagonally; mark the cells around each queen as X.
- Finish the board to keep your streak, and come back after midnight for the next one.

Tips
- Start with the smallest colour region or one squeezed into a corner: it has the fewest places for its queen.
- If a colour's remaining cells all lie in one row, every other cell in that row is an X.
- If two colours together fit inside two rows, those rows belong to them; cross out other colours there.
- Use a hint when stuck: it shows the reasoning step, which you can reuse on later boards.
